Can I use my own modem with welo internet, instead of equipment from welo?

The short answer is yes. If you want to use your own modem and it’s compatible with our network, go for it.

But honestly? We recommend renting our WiFi Gateway to get the full welo experience, as the chef intended.

Now for the long answer: Using our WiFi Gateway helps make sure you’re getting the speeds you signed up for on our DOCSIS 3.1 network, plus access to the Plume Home app and other stuff.

Not to be dramatic, but if you use your own modem, you’d miss out on some pretty solid perks:

• The Plume Home app, which puts you fully in charge of your connection, from your WiFi name and password, to extenders, to parental controls, to keeping tabs on everything happening across your home network
• Built-in internet security that helps detect block weird stuff before it becomes a problem
• Home network optimization and automatic signal adjustment
• Custom guest access for visitors, roommates, your kids’ friends, whoever

Quick heads-up: Our 24/7 tech support for equipment only applies to WiFi Gateways and extenders rented from welo. If you’re using your own equipment, internal hardware issues, firmware updates, and security vulnerabilities are all DIY territory.
