What internet speed do I need?
Choosing an internet plan shouldn’t feel like a pop quiz. You don’t need to memorize Mbps definitions or guess how many “internet points” Netflix uses per hour. You just need a speed that fits how you actually live online.
At welo, we keep things simple. Here’s how to figure out which speed is right for you—and when it’s worth going faster.
First: What does internet speed actually mean?
Internet speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps).
Download speed affects streaming, scrolling, gaming, and loading websites.
Upload speed affects video calls, posting content, cloud backups, and sending files.
When you see a figure like “(300/50 Mbps),” the first number (300) is the download speed, the second (50) is the upload speed.
All of our plans come with a fast upload speed of 50 Mbps, which means smoother Zoom calls, clearer FaceTimes, and less “sorry, you froze.”
